"Red-Shouldered Hawk on Dogwood over Hidden Falls," displayed in the main gallery of the Spartanburg County Museum
of Art, shows a 19th-century gristmill dam as the backdrop for flora and fauna indigenous to the upstate of South Carolina.
The photograph was captured by Brian Kuhens on June 20, 2004, at Hidden Falls, located on Halfway Branch between the Hillbrook
Forest and Brookfield subdivisions in the City of Spartanburg. Hidden Falls was the original 1969 site of Hatcher Gardens,
but was purchased by a group which included Shirley Carter, Spartanburg's reknowned landscape architect and conservationist,
when Harold Hatcher moved to Briarwood Road on the city's west side.
